Gary Fiddes: 1968 Challenge Cup semi-final and Final

1968 Challenge Cup Semi Final.

Travelled to Swinton by bus (M62 was still under construction). Bus broke down. Had to hitch a lift (I was 16 years old). Beat Wigan who were favourites I think . John Atkinson had a blinder against Billy Boston. Had to find a bus to take us home.

Nothing would surpass that would it? Bring on the "Watersplash Final". Went to Wembley with my Dad and Brother. My Dad worked at John Waddingtons with Kenny Hirst who scored in the Final for Wakefield.

We all went crazy when poor Don Fox missed the goal!

Comment added by Tina Fiddes: Hi Gary…Do you have the book that was presented to your dad in 1980 by Mr Oxley at the Conservative club in Armley ? - this is your life Bill Fiddes…. I was telling Lee about it yesterday - he'd be really interested to see it. Regards to all – TINA FIDDES, JULY 5 2014
