Nick Hart: Iestyn Harris

When Iestyn Harris played for Leeds I have some great memories of seeing his sublime skills in action on the pitch but one incident during a break in play sticks with me more than any other. I forget who Leeds were playing but they were awarded a penalty bang on half way, just about within the distance limit for having a kick at goal. As the referee was about to ask Iestyn what option he was going to take, one of the opposing players started mouthing off so the ref turns and walks towards the where the other team are stood beneath the sticks. Seeing his chance to gain a few extra yards, Iestyn casually starts rolling the ball forward with his foot, following the ref down the pitch and gaining around 10 yards from the original spot where the penalty was awarded. As soon as the ref turned back to face him again he calmly indicates his intention to kick for goal and places the ball on the tee with the ref none the wiser, but with the entire South Stand in appreciative uproar.
