Going to Headingley is like having one big extended family, you just feel comfortable in the intimate surroundings. Leeds traditionally do well at home and you go there knowing that you are probably going to enjoy the game, which helps. The best Leeds sides have always played entertaining rugby whether they have won or lost.
I remember once when we were teenagers, I dragged one of my friends, Amanda, along and we sat on the wall waiting for the game to finish. We ran on at the end in an attempt to pat our heroes on the back and all I could think was ‘God, they stink!’- it was the embrocation but it remains a vivid sensual association with the ground.
