I became something of a regular caller on Radio Headingley, the club's matchday radio station, for a while.
There was one occasion when I was flying back from Heathrow to Leeds for a Friday night match at Headingley when I thought I would ring through and get the latest team news and gossip.
As usually happened, I got involved in some debate or other about the state of the game or the way the team were playing and completely ignored all the announcements coming over the tannoy in the terminal.
Not surprisingly, whilst I was in the middle of the broadcast, my flight left without me and I hurriedly had to find a hotel in London to watch the game on television. There was a compensation, though.
Soon after then end of another match when we used to ring in with out opinion of the night's action, I heard presenter Stuart Duffy say, 'And after the break we'll be getting the thoughts of coach Dean Bell, prop Neil Harmon and Richard Stevens.' It did sound strange and gratifying to be listed in such illustrious company.
Richard Stevens
