A Collection of painful playing memories

I came to Acklam about five years ago as a second row. My first memory is when I nearly broke my neck in a game Andrew Brewer

I first came to Acklam in 2012, I played for about three weeks and then a lad ran into my foot and I was taken out the game, it wasn't a red card! Louwen Labonete

The cup final in 2000 or 2001 when Moffatt broke his femur towards the end of the game and they still did the presentation whilst he was laid out in the pitch!! Brian Deane

The training - the press ups on knuckles in the rubble carpark, smashing my nose wide open at North Shields, doing my ACL at Guisborough Squibs

I trained for Acklam in the summer of 1980 and played for the second or third team by September. I played on the wing or in the backs - out of the way. I can't remember who my debut was against or when! I remember, though, once we were playing away at Bridlington and it was that cold you could hardly feel your fingers, you just looked forward to getting into the bath at the end of the game! Or at Bishop Auckland a few seasons after that, that was really cold too! Anon

Taking the hardest tackle I ever had from a skinny Fly Half at Stocksbridge. (timed to perfection). Ray Rowling

Nogga tackling the Ashington wing on Sandy Flatts, the wing landed at Saltersgill John Haddon
