A collection of playing and coaching memories

My favourite memories are watching my son play; I coached him for many years, and being the vice chairman. My first trip to Twickenham was to see my son play. Phil Oakes

My favourite memory is playing for Hinckley, when we won the Colts Cup at Northampton’s ground, Franklin’s Gardens. It was good. I’ve played here at Twickenham three times, for school and county. Ryan Oakes

I’ve been at Ripon RUFC for four years as a coach for the under 7s and under 10s so I don’t have that many memories but you get a lot more back from the kids than you ever put in. The family spirit of the club is brilliant and it goes back a long time, over a hundred years. It’s great to be part of such a welcoming club. Simon Whiteley, Ripon RUFC

A couple of seasons ago I was captain of the team that got to the Midlands Junior Vase Final, we unfortunately lost, but it was a very close game and remains a great memory. Gareth Evans, Harbury RUFC

We're in the middle of rebuilding our clubhouse after an arson attack caused over £1M damage. Despite the attack, many memories of the old clubhouse live on and I'm sure there are many more to be made. For me, one of the most special moments of being involved in the club was starting women's and girls' rugby at the club almost two years ago. To bring rugby to members who hadn't had chance to play previously is really special. David McGuigan, Old Reigatian RUFC

These memories were recorded by members of the RFU Youth Council at Twickenham during the Six Nations Championship as part of the England Rugby Sporting Memories project.
