After plans to ground share with York City FC had broken down York moved to play at the Huntington Stadium and adopted the name Ryedale-York, Ryedale District Council having financed the stadium. The record attendance for a Rugby League match at the ground was set in 1990, when 4,977 watched a Division Two against Halifax.
