Lee Briers: 2009 Challenge Cup semi-final

I got into rugby league at a very early age, well I was four actually. I used to follow older kids and mates around who were playing and I’d join in. I grew up to absolutely love watching and playing the game and being able to play it professionally is just a dream.

The game that really stands out for me is the 2009 Challenge Cup semi-final when we beat Wigan. That was really the start of our run of successful years. Having missed out five times in previous semi-finals, just to make Wembley was an absolutely massive feeling, the buzz was unbelievable. We played awesome that day, Wigan were outright favourites and we just smashed them. The feeling of finally making it through to Wembley, after thirteen years of trying to get there was just amazing. The whole town just erupted!
