Chris Clark: 1962 Challenge Cup Final

My first trip to Wembley in May 1962. We left Wakefield Kirkgate on a 'special' train at about 6am and got back around midnight. It was a long day for a 9 year old lad but worth every minute. Thanks to Neil Fox's drop goals The Mighty Trin beat Huddersfield to take the Challenge Cup.

We were on course to take all four trophies that year, we just had to do it all again at Odsal the next week...but it wasn't to be...I sat down on the terraces and cried that day!

Wakefield beat Huddersfield 12-6 in the Challenge Cup Final but lost to the same team in the following week's Championship Final
