Trevor Lawson: mind games with our scrum-half

I played in the same year group team as David at Bristol Grammar School - he was on the wing and I was fly-half. The job of me and the centres was to get the ball out to David as quickly as possible. After one or two years on the wing, the coaches decided David needed to be closer to the action so moved him into the centre before, in the Colts year (under 16s), he went to scrum-half. David was always the tallest of the backs, and when the visiting team arrived it amused the rest of us to send him out to meet the opposition and introduce himself as the scrum-half, normally the smallest of the backs.
