My greatest memory was Wales winning the 1978 Grand Slam against France at the old Cardiff Arms Park.  So many reasons!  It was my first live international game at 9 years old.  My hero Phil Bennett’s last game for Wales, which he scored a try, maybe two.  I remember the whole day being so intense, the crowd and atmosphere was powerful and electric.  My uncle who took me to the game lost me in the crowd, I was wandering around Cardiff for hours terrified.  Eventually he collected me from a police station after I asked a police officer for help.  I’m sure quite a few of the greats retired from international rugby that game.
I’ve come to know Phil very well, from my time at the Scarlets.  He’s a great man and so humble.
